Description
It is estimated that the painting was commissioned circa 1910 from the artist by Sir Philip Stott Bt (1858-1937), owner of Stanton Court and the village of Stanton, Gloucestershire, and thence by descent. The painting is of the medieval cross in Stanton, which was three miles from F.D. Millet’s house in Broadway. Philip Stott bought Stanton Court and the village in 1906.
